Summary0001118: Create incident based on Inventory ID
DescriptionAll our supported clients have lables on their computers (we make theese lables). On theese lables they can find support phone, support e-mail and unique (its unique for all our clients) inventory ID.
So I think it would be great feature to add incident based on inventory ID. So client make a call to us and tell us inventory ID.
In this case i think there can be menu item "add incident by id". also there can be dashlet with field "Type in inventory ID" and button "create".
If inventory item have no Owner - the next step is to choose contact of site, that this inventory id belongs to.

Also you can make this feature:
Before user log in portal there can be two fields:
user email, inventory id and problem description. so users can register incidents without login to portal.
In tis case such companys as our (outsourcing) can built in this form in their web sites and users can quickly register new incidents without any logins and passwords.
offcouse this should work only if inventory id belongs to contact (email).

This would require some proper planning before it's implemented. Ideally you'd want to link inventory items with contracts so that you can provide inventory based support. I think to try and bolt this on would be a mistake, we need to carefully plan it first.

yes its very important to bind inventory to contract.
if someone of our clients bring home notebook and try to register incident - we should see that thiitem is not included in current contract - so work should be payed.
