Summary0001800: Holding queue: Contact not correctly recognised from Sit database
DescriptionDepending on how decodes and analyses the email the variable "$decoded[0]['ExtractedAddresses']['from:'][0]['address']" may or may not be filled. If it is not filled, we have some code to then use the variable "$decoded[0]['Headers']['from:']" instead, but this variable is usually in the format: "Name <email address>".

In this case we do a DB search for the contact (Inboundemail.php line 184):
"SELECT id FROM `sit_contacts` WHERE email = 'name <email@address>' which will never find the contact in the SIT! database.

This was added in rev 7541: [^]
Additional InformationI suggest we do a regex on this part to remove the "name" and the "<", ">" stuff to be left with just the email address.

182 // Work-around for a problem where email addresses with extra characters (such as apostophe) stop the email address being extracted
183 if (empty($from_email) AND !empty($decoded[0]['Headers']['from:']))
    $from_email = strtolower($decoded[0]['Headers']['from:']);
    preg_match("/<(.*)>/i", $from_email, $results);
    $from_email = $results[1];

Thanks Nicdev, I'd call this a feature request though since it's expanding capabilities rather than fixing brokenness.
